Unlimited eSIM for the USA: daily caps, networks and prices

An unlimited eSIM for the USA costs from $4.26 for one day on TonMobile, and the cheapest 30-day plan we found is Holafly at $73.90. For trips up to two weeks, TonMobile's US prices come in lower at every length both sell. Past roughly three weeks, Holafly's month plan wins on price, and its hotspot rule (1 GB a day) is written down in advance.

The short version

  • TonMobile USA unlimited: $10.78 for 3 days, $23.86 for 7 days, $99 for 30 days.
  • Holafly USA unlimited: $11.90 for 3 days, $27.50 for 7 days, $73.90 for 30 days, on AT&T and T-Mobile.
  • Both plans are data-only. Neither gives you a US phone number.
  • Canada and Mexico need their own plans on TonMobile, and both cost more per day than the US.

USA unlimited eSIM prices side by side

Two providers publish US unlimited prices we could check on October 27, 2026: TonMobile in its web app and Holafly on its USA plan page. Their plan lengths overlap at 3, 5, 7, 15 and 30 days. TonMobile adds a 1-day plan, and Holafly adds a 10-day plan.

Airalo, Saily and Nomad also sell unlimited plans, but we did not have US prices from them in our fact base. What they do publish is the daily quota rule that applies to their unlimited plans in general.

Airalo

3 GB a day

Airalo's rule: 3 GB at high speed per 24 hours from activation, then 1 Mbps.

Saily

5 GB a day

Saily gives 5 GB per 24 hours, then 1 Mbps. Plans start at 5 days.

Nomad

2 GB a day

Nomad gives 2 GB on most unlimited plans, then about 1 to 2 Mbps.

The Holafly USA details we read list prices, networks and the hotspot cap, but no daily full-speed figure. On TonMobile, the plan cards we read for the UK and Turkey showed 1 GB at full speed each day, then 512 kbps. Limits can differ by country, so open the US card on TonMobile and read its line before paying.

Short trips or long stays: the per-day math

The cheaper USA unlimited eSIM depends on how many days you stay. Dividing each price by its length shows where the lines cross.

LengthTonMobile per dayHolafly per day
3 days$3.59$3.97
5 days$3.46$4.10
7 days$3.41$3.93
15 days$3.33$3.37
30 days$3.30$2.46

TonMobile's US price per day barely moves with length, from $3.59 on a 3-day plan to $3.30 on a month. Holafly's falls sharply on its 30-day plan. That gap decides the long-stay answer.

Three trips worked out

Long weekend

$10.78

A 3-day TonMobile plan for a New York weekend. Holafly's 3-day plan is $11.90.

10 days on the West Coast

$34.64

TonMobile 7-day plus 3-day plans add up to $34.64. Holafly's single 10-day plan is $36.50 and needs only one purchase.

A month in Florida

$73.90

Holafly's 30-day plan. TonMobile's month costs $99, so Holafly saves $25.10.

The crossover sits at about three weeks. Two TonMobile plans covering 22 days (15 plus 7) cost $73.86, the same as Holafly's full month. For anything longer, the 30-day Holafly plan is cheaper.

Before you stack plans

Each plan is its own purchase with its own activation. TonMobile's help center says a top-up starts once the previous data is used, so ask support how a second unlimited plan applies before you rely on stacking.

Networks and coverage in the United States

A travel eSIM rides on a local US operator, because the eSIM seller is a reseller and does not run towers of its own. Holafly names its partners for the USA plan: AT&T and T-Mobile. The full-speed part of your day is only as good as that network where you stand.

Holafly also notes that coverage can be weaker in rural and remote areas. That matters on a US road trip more than in most countries, because long stretches between towns are common. Before a drive through desert or national parks, check the named operator's own coverage map.

TonMobile's terms describe the same reseller model. If a specific route matters, ask support which network the US plan uses before buying. Our glossary explains terms such as partner network, validity and activation window.

  4. 08:00ResetFull speed returns for the next 24 hours.
Illustrative day on a US unlimited plan. The 24-hour clock runs from activation, and the slow lane lasts until the reset.

The day above is why activation time matters. Airalo and Nomad count the 24 hours from activation, so activating on your arrival morning lines a fresh quota up with each day of sightseeing. More on what still works in the slow lane is in our guide to life after the daily cap.

Hotspot rules for a US eSIM

An esim usa hotspot plan is only as useful as its sharing rule, and each provider writes that rule differently. A laptop on a motel desk can spend a full day's quota in one session.

eSIMlaptop
  • Sailyno separate hotspot cap
  • Airaloallowed, counts toward 3 GB
  • Holafly1 GB a day
  • TonMobileworks in most countries, carrier and phone dependent
Hotspot rules as each provider states them, October 2026.

Holafly USA

  • Hotspot capped at 1 GB a day
  • A 7-day plan allows up to 7 GB of sharing
  • Rule stated on the plan page

TonMobile USA

  • Hotspot works in most countries and on most phones
  • Depends on the local carrier and device, not guaranteed
  • Fix: match the tethering APN to the mobile data APN, then restart

Among the other quota rules, Saily states unlimited hotspot on all its unlimited plans. Airalo allows tethering, but shared data comes out of the same 3 GB. If you plan to work from a laptop, read our laptop hotspot guide first.

Keep the laptop lean

Pause cloud sync and system updates before you connect a laptop to the phone. On the phone itself, iPhone Low Data Mode or Android Data Saver holds back background use on the travel line.

USA, Canada and Mexico on one road trip

A North America road trip on TonMobile unlimited needs three separate country plans. Unlimited works only in the country it was bought for, and TonMobile's North America regional package is fixed-GB only.

Country1 day3 days5 days7 days15 days30 days
USA$4.26$10.78$17.32$23.86$50.00$99.00
Canada$6.92$18.80$30.68$42.56$90.08$179.18
Mexico$8.18$22.54$36.92$51.30$108.80$216.60

Canada costs about $6.08 a day on a week plan, and Mexico about $7.33. The US week works out to $3.41 a day, so the border legs are where a trip budget grows.

  1. USA, 7 days

Seattle down the coast on a 7-day US plan: $23.86.

  2. Canada, 5 days

A detour to Vancouver and the Rockies on a 5-day Canada plan: $30.68.

  3. Mexico, 3 days

A final stretch into Baja on a 3-day Mexico plan: $22.54.

The 15-day route totals $77.08 on TonMobile unlimited. Buying short plans for the shorter legs keeps you from paying for a week in a country you cross in two days. For a single long base, our month-abroad data guide helps decide whether a fixed plan would do.

Setting up on arrival in the US

Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi, then switch it on when the plane lands. The steps below match any provider in this guide.

  1. Check the phone

The phone must support eSIM and must not be locked to your home carrier. TonMobile's web app has a compatibility check on each country page.

  2. Buy and install before the flight

TonMobile gives 180 days to activate after purchase. Do not delete the eSIM afterwards, because some profiles install only once.

  3. Switch data to the travel line on landing

Set the eSIM as the mobile data line and turn on data roaming for it. Keep data roaming off on your home line.

  4. Keep the home SIM on for texts

Your bank's one-time codes still arrive by SMS on the home line. Calls go through apps, since the US plans here are data-only.
